Tier 54 – Your new lockdown disco
We can’t go out anywhere at the moment due to lockdown, but you can go to a new club – Tier 54!
Jump’s very own director Russell Hilliard, has started a bi-weekly, Friday evening, weekend warmup DJ session. He’ll be mixing live and streaming on Mixcloud from 5.30pm to 7.00pm.
Russ said:
“I think we’re all looking at ways to keep ourselves entertained and feeling good at the moment. Since lockdown started I’ve been teaching myself how to use the DJ software Serato. I used to play out with a group of friends many, many years ago. We ran a clubnight called Frenzy. It culminated in about six fun parties we ran at the Ministry of Sound in the VIP room over the main bar. It was all on vinyl then. I stopped DJing just as everything was going digital. Yes, I appreciate I am old and need to catch up with the modern technology ha.”
“I’ve been listening recently to a great funk, disco, rare groove streaming session called ‘Sure is Funky‘ run by the long time friend of Jump, Art Director Paul Wilkinson. Paul’s taste in music and amazing old record collection is second to none. I highly recommend you to go and listen to them on Twitch / Mixcloud too. They have inspired me to dust off my headphones and put together some live mix sessions.”
“The music I used to play out was always House. Tier 54 is going to be a fun and funky start to the weekend. Expect disco grooves, funky beats, soulful vocals and the occassional deeper vibe. There won’t be anything too fast and crazy. Always music to make you feel good.”
