The Jump Christmas Party: Darts, Curry, Pub
For this year’s Jump Christmas party, we lined up the classic combination of throwing a few darts, feasting on a curry and then retiring to the cosy corner of a pub.
The darts leg of the festivities began at Flight Club in Shoreditch, where we had two oches booked for the team to throw their arrows in. The boards are set up with tracking sensors allowing you to play a series of electronic games that appear on big screens above the dart boards. No need for mental arithmetic or calculators here, the automated system works it all out for you.
We had one very special little visitor. Jump’s designer Becky Clacey who is currently on maternity leave, came along to introduce us all to her super-cute new son. Needless to say he was kept a VERY safe distance away from sharp, pointy objects.
The second phase of the party involved a short walk across Shoreditch to Dishoom – which in their words ‘is a love letter to Bombay, its food and its culture, its many varied people, its rich history and its endless eccentricities’.
And we can add to that … IT’S ABSOLUTELY DELICIOUS!
We were feasting on their Christmas menus which for starters included Keema Pau – tender, spiced lamb mince, served with hot buttered rolls, okra fries and Bhel Puri.
Followed by sharing platters – including Turkey Raan with all the trimmings, Murgh Malai, Chicken Ruby, Black Dhal, Naans, Roti and Raita. (Vegetarian options included of course).
Fabulous food with fantastic service – we heartily recommend you visit one of Dishoom’s branches for a festive feast. Thanks to the team there for making our meal so enjoyable.
Top Tip: They also have a great online store which is loaded with potential stocking fillers for your foodie loved ones.
The final phase of our Christmas fun was at The Prince Arthur – thankfully, only a short stroll away as our bellies were mighty full. This pub has been a favourite over the years, particularly when we used to have an office around the corner. No party is complete without Secret Santa – and this year there were some magnificently creative efforts from the team.
Dave was the recipient of this bespoke Lego kit which created an 8-Bit version of the Jump logo. (Squint a bit!)
And after recently sharing a harissa bean recipe that he loved with the team, Russell H became the recipient of a jar of Happy Jump Beans. With well over 500 beans adorned with hand-drawn smiley faces. That’s a lot of effort. Secret Santa was REALLY busy with this one.
The Christmas Party is the final JumpDay of the year. These are our regular team-bonding afternoons / evenings which counterbalance Jump being a full-time, remote-working company. It’s a vital part of keeping our company culture thriving.
Callum O’Reilly – Senior Designer at Jump:
“My favourite JumpDay moment this year was undoubtedly rolling, stretching and spinning on the floor like a child at the Somatic Workshop. I’ve never felt so fluid and sans-achy in my life after that.
All JumpDays are fantastic though – which is easy because the Jump team are so RAD.”
Well said, Callum.
