Jump lends a hand to Lifeline

Lifeline is a monthly 10 minute programme broadcast on BBC One highlighting the work of a charity and appealing for donations to support its activities. The appeal aims to provide an opportunity for raising money and awareness to a variety of charities – and is a fantastic way for a charity to engage with the BBC’s audience. There are 11 Lifeline Appeals each year.

Lifeline was looking to freshen and modernise its brand. They wanted a visual identity that would work on the campaign website as well as on broadcast. Jump’s mission was to create a new logo and an opening animation for the series.

Lee Jacobs – Senior Art Director at Jump:

“We wanted to keep the hand motif from the previous logo but rather than using it to contain a heart, we considered other ways to represent help and love.

Our new concept is based on hands reaching out to help.

We see the hands moving colourful shapes. They are working together to create the logo. This represents the relationship between the presenter and the viewer, working together to support the charity.”

Lifeline is available to stream now on BBC iPlayer.
