Richard Dufty: 1977 – 2023
We were deeply saddened to hear about the recent death of Richard Dufty.
Rich was an amazingly talented art director, designer and animator who regularly worked with Jump as a freelancer. He worked for many years in the ITN graphics department, which is where we first met him. When you heard Rich was onboard, you knew your project was in very safe hands. Most importantly though, he was a warm, friendly, funny man who was a joy to work with.
One time Rich travelled with us to Qatar to help with a simple handover of a project along with the technical backup. At very short notice, it turned into an unexpected full presentation to the entire board of 40 VIPs. Some frantic preparation of a presentation document took place in the hotel bedroom. Rich was armed with a brand new iPad, which at the time we had only just heard about, we certainly didn’t have one. He calmly helped whip the document into shape – and of course it all went smoothly.
Rich was diagnosed with Stage 4 prostate cancer two years ago. He never stopped living life to the full and continued his passions for creating art, freezing cold sea swims, running and vegan cooking.
You can view Rich’s artistic work on his PrototypeTM instagram page.
Our love and condolences go out to all of Rich’s family, friends and colleagues – in particular his wife Emma and their two girls, Edie and Lila
He’ll be missed x
